Payback
Payback $30.00

Payback gives Rust server admins 60 "cards" — punishment and investigation effects you apply to a player, from silently zeroing a cheater's damage to loading them into a cannon and firing them into the ocean. Cards stack, apply to whole teams, and can persist across restarts. Everything is driven from an in-game admin panel or chat commands.

This page is the full reference: installation, commands, permissions, configuration, and every card.

Requirements

  • A Rust server running Oxide (Carbon works via its Oxide compatibility layer; Oxide is the tested path)
  • No plugin dependencies — Payback is fully standalone
  • Keep the plugin updated after Rust forced wipes: Payback uses live Rust client/server APIs, and updates ship whenever a Rust patch changes them

Installation

  1. Download Payback3.cs from your delivery email, or any time from My Downloads in the top bar.
  2. Drop the file into oxide/plugins/ on your server. It compiles and loads automatically.
  3. Grant your admin group access:
oxide.grant group admin payback3.admin
  1. In game, run /payback to open the admin panel. That's it.

Quick Start

  1. Look at a player.
  2. Type /payback and click a card — or skip the panel entirely and type a card command, e.g. /sit.
  3. Run /payback show at any time to list every active card on every player, and /payback clear to remove them all.

Targeting

Method Example
Look at a player /sit
By name /sit PlayerName
By SteamID /sit 76561198012345678
Entire team /sit PlayerName team

Cards stack — Drunk + Spinbot + Swarm on the same player all run at once. Most cards are toggles: run the command again to remove the card.

Commands

Command What it does
/payback Open the admin panel
/payback show List all active cards on all players
/payback clear Remove all cards from all players
/<card> <target> Apply a card by name or alias (e.g. /spin, /eq, /cat)
/<card> <target> team Apply to the target and their entire team
/listen Cycle through players using voice chat — catches mic spam. Auto-stops after 15 minutes idle
/setdroppercent <0–1> Set the Butterfingers weapon-drop chance (default 0.3)
paybacknoui (console) Toggle the live active-cards overlay for yourself

Every card is registered as both a chat and a console command, under its full name and its alias — /spinbot and /spin both work. Aliases are configurable (or disableable) per card in the config.

Permissions

Permission Grants
payback3.admin Everything: all cards, all commands, the Settings tab, clear-all, and utility commands
payback3.user Moderator tier: open the panel and apply cards, minus anything you deny

The moderator tier is the practical way to give staff Payback access without full trust:

  • List card names or aliases in the config's moderator denied commands to block them for payback3.user holders. Denied cards are hidden from their panel and help output, and blocked server-side.
  • Set allow moderator UI to false to give moderators command-only access (they get the help list in F1 console instead of the panel).

The Admin Panel

/payback opens a full in-game UI:

  • Category tabs — All, Combat, Pain, Capture, Damage, Investigate, Status, New, Misc — plus a search box
  • Target selection — select whoever you're looking at, or toggle Team mode to hit an entire squad with one click
  • Card parameters — options like kill, force values, or chair variants are set with toggles and number inputs before applying
  • Favorites — save your go-to cards for one-click access
  • Live status overlay — optional on-screen display of every active card (config setting, per-admin toggle with paybacknoui)
  • Settings tab (admin-only) — edit the plugin config live, in game
  • Clear All — wipe every active card server-wide, with a confirm step

Discord Integration

Add one or more webhook URLs to the config to enable:

  • Command logging — every card application with admin name, card, and target
  • Game-ban detection — a notice when any player on your server receives a game ban, with their team listed (and BattleMetrics links if enabled)
